What is the Gastric Sleeve?
The Gastric Sleeve is a surgical procedure that aims at weight loss from a stomach reduction, in people with morbid and severe obesity. With this treatment the patient will be able to see successful results thanks to its high efficacy.
This minimally invasive procedure is performed laparoscopically and lasts between 60 and 90 minutes. We will be able to reduce the stomach by about 75-80% so that the patient is satiated earlier than he/she was used to before, and therefore ingests less food.
How is Gastric Sleeve Gastrectomy performed?
Before the intervention is performed, at Doctor Life Clinics we will subject the patient to various tests in order to ensure that he/she is in optimum health conditions to undergo the treatment. In the two weeks prior to surgery, it is recommended that the patient should take a liquid food intake.
Finally, our experts in bariatric surgery will make between 2 and 5 small incisions in the abdomen to introduce the laparoscopy. This will allow surgeons to control the operation at all times and achieve successful results. Next, most of the stomach is removed, which will take the shape of a vertical tube. The patient will require general anesthesia and will also have to be hospitalized, thus guaranteeing his recovery and care at all times.
The patient will be able to see how he/she is able to lose between 25 and 60 kilos during the first 6 to 12 months after the procedure.
